Over time, partial or full dentures may become worn, loosened or no longer fit as they originally did. This often occurs because the shape of the face and jaw changes with age and the bone beneath the denture gradually resorbs, causing the denture to lose its stability inside the mouth.
As a result, dentures may feel uncomfortable, unstable or less functional during everyday activities such as speaking and chewing.
Denture repair and relining are performed by the dentist through the taking of a dental impression. The impression, together with the denture, is then sent to the dental laboratory, where the necessary repairs are carried out and a new internal lining (relining) is applied.
This process restores the proper fit, comfort and stability of the denture, improving both function and quality of life for the patient.
