Patients often describe dental issues as emergencies, even when they do not truly have the characteristics of an urgent condition.
Dental emergencies are considered to include the following:
- Severe toothache accompanied by swelling that does not subside with common analgesics or returns with increased intensity.
- Bleeding following tooth extraction.
- Cracked or fractured tooth resulting from trauma.
- Avulsion (complete displacement) of a tooth or its displacement to another position within the jaw, also due to trauma.
- Dental infection.
- Injury to the soft tissues resulting in excessive bleeding.
- Dental restorations that have become loose or have fallen out and interfere with basic oral functions.
Such cases are accepted at our Practice as dental emergencies, even outside of scheduled appointments. Please contact us by telephone so that we can provide guidance on how to manage your condition until you arrive at the Office for examination or, if we are unavailable, advise you on the safest way to handle the issue.
